Jarryd & Samantha Kirsten

Founders /Owners (Operations and Accounts)

After working in various Montessori environments and previously opening up a special needs school, Sam and Jay saw a need for something very special in Hilton. After moving the school a few times, they had finally found what would become the Hilton Gardens Children’s Academy’s forever home. Formerly known as Hedgehogs and Daisies Daycare and Preschool, Sam and Jay felt that Hilton Gardens needed something fresh, something new – introducing the Hilton Gardens Children’s Academy.

Running their own preschool since 2015, their school community had become like family, from planning their wedding to meeting their first child. Now, with three children of their own, they hope to maintain, if not elevate, the standard of professionalism and care that each child rightfully deserves when they step into HGCA. After all, it needs to be a home away from home.

Adhiksha Amrithlal

Psychology Degree

I have had the pleasure of being a part of the Hilton Gardens Children’s Academy family since July 2020 and became principal in 2021, where I also started off teaching in the baby class (Ducklings) and then moved to the Tortoise class. I hold a degree in Psychology, which has provided me with valuable insights into child development and behavior. My educational background allows me to understand the unique needs of each child and tailor my teaching approach accordingly, fostering their growth and development in a supportive and nurturing manner.

Tamryn Marechal

BEd Degree

I am a qualified foundation phase teacher, having earned my degree in education from Varsity College and UNISA (R-Grade 3). Additionally, I am registered with the Council of Education of South Africa, which has granted me the license to teach in this country.
Outside of the classroom, I am happily married and have been blessed with two wonderful sons, Matthew, and Michael. Matthew is in Grade 3, while Michael is in Grade RR. Being a “boy mom” brings me immense joy, and witnessing their growth and development serves as a constant source of inspiration for me.
I am deeply passionate about teaching and fostering the holistic development of children. My philosophy revolves around the belief that progress is not measured by speed but by consistency and determination. I strive to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment where each child feels empowered to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace.

Mbali Mavimbela

Diploma in Financial Accounting

I hold a National Diploma in Financial Accounting, which I obtained from Durban University of Technology. My professional journey began in 2019 when I started working as an assistant in the baby class, where I provided support and guidance to our youngest learners. Over the years, I’ve gained valuable experience and skills, leading me to my current role as an assistant in the Foxes class, where I work with 5 and 6-year-old students, fostering their growth and development.

Outside of work, my most cherished role is being a mother to my two beautiful children, Elihle, who is 12 years old, and Zukhanyise, who is 3 years old. They are the light of my life, and I am endlessly grateful for the joy they bring me each day.

During my downtime, I prioritize spending quality time with my kids and family, cherishing every moment we share together. Additionally, I find relaxation and fulfillment in activities such as reading books and solving puzzles, which allow me to unwind and rejuvenate my mind.

Shani Amrithlal

Before stepping into the heartwarming role of nurturing our youngest learners, I had the privilege of managing a business. However, my true passion has always been working with children. There’s something truly magical about witnessing those precious first steps, hearing those first words, and being a part of those early milestones.
In my personal life, I am fortunate to have been married for 34 wonderful years. My journey as a parent has been incredibly fulfilling, and I am the proud mother of two children of my own. This experience has enriched my understanding of child development and reinforced my commitment to providing a supportive and loving environment for all the children under my care.
My approach to teaching is rooted in love, patience, and encouragement. I believe that every child is unique and deserving of individualized attention and support. In the Ducklings Class, we celebrate each milestone, no matter how small, and create a nurturing space where curiosity is encouraged, and learning is fun.
